Pilates Mat Classes
To understand the core framework of Pilates, mat classes offer an excellent start. Mat work is the foundational material, developed by Joseph Pilates, that serves as the basis for all other Pilates exercise. Whether you are naturally athletic or just beginning to move your body in unique ways after many years, our Pilates mat classes are nurturing and supportive while providing excellent exercise.
Using your own body weight as resistance, you’ll be amazed and thrilled to discover the empowerment Pilates mat classes offer! But don’t be fooled, mat work is challenging, you’re using your own body as resistance against the forces of gravity. Focusing on the body’s central strength, the core or abdominal muscles, mat classes offer flowing and controlled movement to awaken your senses, tendons, muscles, and cells.
As you begin your Pilates practice, consider Sheppard Method Pilates introductory starter package. Three hours of private instruction, tailored to you and your needs, is an excellent way to learn Pilates mat work and get the most out of your exercise.

Pilates Reformer Classes
Resistance is a central part of the Pilates approach to awaken all parts of your body and mind. To achieve proper control and, therefore, correct form and benefit, Pilates reformer classes awaken you to the possibilities of what you are truly capable of.
Pilates classes that utilize the reformer machine can be intimidating, but they need not be. Our expert, master Pilates instructors and purpose-built West Los Angeles studio are ideal to guide clients through the lesson in a safe and tailored movement experience that leaves you feeling satisfied and challenged.
Pilates reformer classes are ideal for you if you’re familiar with the Pilates approach, seeking to understand and improve your body’s capabilities or finished with a physical therapy regimen but not completely recovered. The results you can expect will expand your range of motion, strengthen all aspects of your physique, and allow you to move confidently both in your body and mind.

Pilates Mat Fusion Classes
Blending Pilates with yoga/dance offers unique benefits to stimulate your body and mind! If you’re experienced with Pilates mat classes and movement, consider the Pilates Mat Fusion class for an extra boost to your Pilates program.
Using your muscles and breath to embrace new movement, Pilates Mat Fusion provides renewed energy and challenge. By injecting your normal Pilates practice with flowing movement, you’ll enjoy new ways to explore motion and flow to reset your body and mind with reenergized focus.
Please note, some classes may not be suitable for first time Pilates clients, those recovering from chronic injury or surgery less than six weeks, or those pregnant over 20 weeks. However, please contact us to learn more about private Pilates classes if any of these apply to you.
