What Is a Pilates Cadillac?

The Pilates Cadillac resembles a bed frame in the design, with four posts, a raised platform, and an overhead canopy-like component called a trapeze. It incorporates springs, handles, and bars that escalate the user experience. With this in mind, incorporating the Cadillac into your Pilates practice changes the movements but does not necessarily increase the difficulty.

The Cadillac’s attachments can be adjusted based on each user’s strength, goals, and experience with Pilates as a practice. It is a great option for beginners who are not yet ready for the Reformer. The Cadillac platform remains stationary, while the Reformer platform moves back and forth on metal rails below the platform.

Why Pilates Cadillacs Take Your Practice to the Next Level

Variability and Accessibility for a Wide Range of Students

There are multiple benefits to a Pilates practice and to incorporating a Pilates Cadillac into your sessions. Pilates Cadillacs make Pilates accessible to a wider range of students including:

  • Elderly students
  • Limited mobility students
  • Pregnant students
  • Athletes
  • Dancers

The Cadillac is ideal for students recovering from injuries or those with balance challenges or vertigo. It brings the mat to the student. Increased variability of movements and resistance allows you to grow in your practice and build strength and flexibility.

The raised platform makes Pilates an option for students who cannot easily get up and down from the floor while a mat practice is not as feasible.

The Health Benefits of a Pilates Practice

Pilates is a wonderful choice when you need to release the stress of life and leave the outside world behind. It is soothing for the body and mind because it requires focus, just as a yoga or meditation practice does. This concentrated kind of practice clears the mind.

Pilates, using a Pilates Cadillac, is also ideal for a full-body workout. The core is engaged throughout all sessions, whether targeting the upper or lower body. Core strength is vital to spinal support and health in people of all ages and thus can positively affect your quality of life. With this practice, you also may notice increased blood flow and circulation, improving cardiovascular health.
